To many, this might feel wrong, but as a bookworm, I have never been the most attracted to comic strips. Four words as main reason: the smell of books. But, being open-minded and always down to discover quality content, of whatever sort of course, I have tried out several comics, and the following have strung me with their high quality set-up. Here are my recommendations:
Blacksad, Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido
Private detective Blacksad (yes, the handsome guy on the image) brilliantly and darkly performing in each thriller - or book. There is each time an underlying historical context that is set to light in a very delicate way, yet quite graphic. In complement to a pure thriller plot, it also shows humanity’s previous mistakes and major choices in a crude way, and that makes it my favorite comic series without a doubt.
Saga, Brian K. Vaughan
Watchmen, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
Before Watchmen: Minutemen, Darwyn Cooke
